Here is a brief description of the different types of massage utilized:

Swedish Massage

A full-body therapeutic massage that incorporates long, flowing strokes, kneading and compressions as well as stretching and energy work as indicated by your specific needs. This is the most common, well known type of western philosophy massage.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a deeper type of massage that alleviates pain by locating the source and using cycles of deep compression and release.  A trigger point is a tight area within the muscle that often refers pain to another area of the body.  For example, a trigger point in your neck could send pain radiating down your shoulder and arm.  Trigger points can be the cause of weakness in a muscle and imbalance from one side of the body to the other, such as in the deltoid or biceps.  The client participates by guiding the therapist to the exact location and using the breath to help release the points.

Myofascial Release Massage

This is a deep tissue session that releases restrictions in the fascia with a slow, methodical spreading technique. Trauma, inflammation, surgery or injury can cause the fascia, a tensile tissue, to exert pressure on many structures causing significant pain. This massage can help relieve that pressure and the associated pain and restricted motion. For more info visit: http://www.myofascialrelease.com/fascia_massage/public/whatis_myofascial_release.asp

There are 50 minutes of actual treatment time. The sessions consist of 2 or 3 different configurations, customized to your needs. The session is fully clothed and the crystals are laid on the body near the midline, around the head and on the table depending on the chosen layout.
