FAQs

Do I Need an Appointment?

Yes, please. We work by appointment only to guarantee individual attention specific to your needs so you can experience the full benefit of your session. However, we will always do the best we can to accommodate your scheduling needs. If you have a condition that requires immediate attention, same day appointments are often available, so please do give us a call.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

At Inner Balance Therapeutic Massage, we understand that life happens. If a conflict should arise and you should need to re-schedule your appointment, please be courteous and give 24 hours notice whenever possible. Your appointment holds that time slot specifically for you. At times, we may turn away other clients in order to reserve the time for you. Cancellations in less than 24 hours do not allow us to book that time for other clients. We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee for the amount of the scheduled session for cancellations with less than 24 hours notice.

When should I not receive a massage?

Some conditions can be exacerbated by receiving circulatory massage. You should consider rescheduling your massage if you have the following: an acute injury – within 24-48 hours of injury, fever, infectious disease or deep vein thrombosis. Please be sure to discuss any conditions that you are currently under a doctor’s care for with your massage therapist prior to the session. It is vital to your care that all conditions be shared with your massage therapist. As always, any information disclosed will be completely confidential. See our confidentiality policy for more information.

Will I be clothed during the session?

Clients are encouraged to undress to whatever level they are comfortable. Some clients prefer to undress completely in order to receive massage to vital areas such as hamstring attachments, gluteal muscles, sacrum and low back. However, many clients prefer to leave on their undergarments or even a tee shirt and shorts. Some types of massage are available, such as Craniosacral Therapy and Thai massage, in which the client remains fully clothed for the entire session. All of these levels of undress are acceptable. Please note that proper draping methods acceptable to our profession and legally required by the State of CT will always be maintained, no matter what level of clothing you choose to remove.

Is Massage Therapy covered by insurance?

Some insurance plans do allow for medically necessary massage services. However, it is varies greatly from company to company. Upon request, Inner Balance Therapeutic Massage will be happy to issue you a receipt for services received that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If you are unsure if your company will reimburse, please check with your insurance company directly prior to your appointment.

Does a Massage Therapist get Tips?

As in any service industry, it is customary and appropriate to tip your massage therapist in recognition of exceptional service. A general rule of thumb is 10-20% of the rate charged. However, if tipping is an added expense that would prohibit you from regular sessions, we would much rather you continue to receive the long term benefits of massage on regular basis.

What happens if I arrive late?

Full session time cannot be guaranteed for late arrivals. It is suggested that you arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment to allow a few minutes to get on the table comfortably so that you are sure to receive the entire session’s worth of bodywork.
